The Motability Scheme continues to expand, offering more choice, more impressive in-car technology, and more practical solutions for drivers with mobility needs. Looking ahead to 2026, there are going to be some exciting additions across every segment, from practical automatic city cars to spacious seven-seat SUVs and longer-range electric vehicles. Here’s a preview of some of the new models we expect to join the Motability car lineup over the next 12 months or so.
In our 2026 car round-up, we take a look at the latest models that leading car brands are likely to offer in the future through the Motability Scheme.
With the UK’s push towards Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEV) continuing and the requirement that all new cars must be electric by 2035, it’s no surprise that many of the models expected in 2026 are fully electric. It’s also reassuring to see many manufacturers continuing to offer a mix of petrol, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid options. For drivers not yet ready to switch to fully electric, this means there’s still a wide range of suitable Motability cars to choose from.
Explore the cars we expect to join the Motability Scheme over the next 12 months here.
The 2026 BYD Atto 2 is an compact electric SUV with an estimated range of around 265 miles (WLTP) on a single charge, making it practical for both daily commuting and longer trips. Fast-charging capability allows an 80% charge in under an hour, ideal for busy drivers. Inside, it features a tech-forward cabin with a large rotating touchscreen and a spacious interior. Motability customers will appreciate the elevated driving position, heated seats, smooth electric drivetrain and affordable running costs, making the Atto 2 a strong contender for those ready to embrace electric motoring.

The Dolphin Surf also gets a performance boost, with a more powerful electric motor delivering quicker acceleration.
Inside, it features the same rotating touchscreen, wireless charging and ‘Hey BYD’ voice controls.

The Dacia Bigster is a large C-segment SUV that we think could join the Motability Scheme in early 2026. At 4.75 meters long, it’s positioned just above the Duster in the Dacia range and offers a spacious and rugged design while maintaining Dacia’s focus on affordability.
The exterior boasts a bold, modern look with sharp lines, Y-shaped LED headlights, and rugged cladding. Inside, it features a minimalist yet practical cabin with a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 667-litre boot, and Dacia’s YouClip system for accessory mounting.
Under the bonnet, the Bigster will offer drivers a 155 hp full hybrid powertrain, combining a petrol engine with electric motors and an automatic gearbox. A mild-hybrid option will also be available.

Chinese maker Great Wall Motor (GWM) will expand its reach in the UK market substantially with the introduction of this lower mid-sized SUV, the Haval Jolion Pro Hybrid. It competes in the over-crowded Qashqai class of family crossovers, but costs thousands less than some of its more commonly-chosen segment rivals. It boasts plenty of cabin space and decent equipment levels for your money, along with a long warranty. The boot is small though as its hybrid system’s battery eats into usable space: just 255 litres.

Practical touches include sliding and folding rear seats, one-pedal driving, and vehicle-to-load capability for powering devices.
When it arrives, the N-One e will compete with similar small EV’s like the Dacia Spring, Leapmotor T03 and Renault Twingo.

Chinese brand Jaecoo will also expand its UK market reach with the launch of this car, the compact Jaecoo 5, which can be had in combustion or full-electric forms. The 1.6-litre petrol engine (shared with the Omoda 5) isn’t in any way electrified, and its efficiency is some way behind the prevailing class standard at 37mpg on the combined cycle. The EV version also borrows its drivetrain from the equivalent Omoda E5, which means a 61.1kWh battery good for up to 245 miles (WLTP) of electric range.
Its elevated driving position provides good visibility, while a suite of 19 driver-assistance systems adds an extra layer of safety. Interior space is good, and there’s a useful 480-litre boot.

The Korean brand is getting ready to roll out a new range of electric vehicles that are designed to be incredibly adaptable and scalable, allowing them to build vans and passenger vehicles of every size.
The PV1, PV5 and PV7 electric vans have already been teased, and it has been confirmed that models will feature smart autonomous driving technology. They also plan to equip models with specialised options, including the PV5 which will get adaptations for wheelchair users who travel in a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV).
We should get more information soon, with the first vehicles scheduled to be built towards the end of 2025.

Output is rated at 238Nm of torque, enabling a braked towing capacity of up to 2,000kg. A full-hybrid option is also expected to join the range later in the model’s lifecycle.

Small city cars are increasingly rare in today’s EV-dominated market, but the Toyota Aygo X has been a standout since 2022, selling over 300,000 units globally, including 14,000 in the UK in 2024. Its main weakness has been the outdated 1.0-litre petrol engine, offering modest performance and little efficiency benefit. Toyota has now addressed this with a major update, introducing the 1.5-litre full-hybrid powertrain from the Yaris and Yaris Cross. With an extra 43 hp over the old three-cylinder unit, the Aygo X not only feels livelier but should also return close to 70mpg, making it far more competitive in the small-car segment.
The new hybrid Aygo X also gains a welcome boost in equipment. Highlights include a 7-inch digital driver display, additional USB-C ports, and a driver attention monitoring system. Freshly designed 17- and 18-inch alloy wheels add extra style across the range. Every version also comes with Toyota’s comprehensive Safety Sense suite, which brings Adaptive Cruise Control, Road Sign Assist, Automatic High Beam, Emergency Steering Assist, and a Pre-Collision System with cyclist and pedestrian detection.

Polo should have an electric range of up to 280 miles and is expected to be launched with an affordable price tag of around £22,000. That would make it one of the cheapest electric cars on the market, undercutting rivals like the Fiat 500 Electric.
