New cars revealed at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed – Motoring Research

From hydrogen-powered hypercars to new electric SUVs, the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed is flush with hot new metal.

The 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed is underway, bringing automotive excitement to the famous hillclimb course across four days.
For three decades, the Festival of Speed has evolved to offer far more than a chance to see classic racing cars. Today, it acts as a major stop on the global motor show circuit, with car manufacturers using it to launch new vehicles in the First Glance paddock.
Join us for a look at the new cars and SUVs making their debuts at the 2025 Festival of Speed.

Alpine is celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2025, so the sporting French marque made a major effort for this year’s Festival of Speed.
Attacking the hill climb is the A290 Rallye, a new version of the electric hot hatchback developed solely for motorsport use.
The same 220hp electric motor as the regular A290 remains, but now with a ZF limited-slip front differential. There is also a substantial roll cage, racing bucket seats and a hydraulic handbrake for drifting action.

Revealed earlier this year, the A390 is Alpine’s electric SUV – and it has the Porsche Macan EV firmly in its sights. Said to offer the excitement of an Alpine sports car, but with five-seat practicality, the A390 goes on sale later this year.
Generating up to 470hp in range-topping GTS trim, the A390 can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 3.9 seconds. Torque vectoring for the all-wheel drive system is intended to boost agility, too.
It may be a major diversion from Alpine’s lightweight sports car history, but the company is aiming to be a truly global brand, with plans to sell vehicles in North America.

The radical-looking Alpine AY6 Alpenglow was actually revealed last year, but this is the first time the hydrogen-powered concept has been shown in the UK.
A twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 generates 740hp. But only water vapour leaves the tailpipes, thanks to the hydrogen power source.
Although firmly just a technical demonstrator for now, Alpine is keen to examine all forms of zero-emissions driving fun.

Here’s another Alpine that was announced in 2024, but is making its dynamic UK debut: the A110 R Ultime.
The most extreme example of the mid-engined Alpine A110, the limited-edition R Ultime comes with 345hp, AP Racing brakes and an aero kit optimised for track use.
Limited to 110 examples worldwide, prices for the very special A110 start at a not-insubstantial £222,000.

Perhaps the wildest thing to ever emerge from Denmark, the Zenvo Aurora packs the most powerful V12 engine ever fitted to a road car.
With four turbochargers, the ‘Mjølner’ V12 produces an astonishing 1,250hp on its own. A trio of electric motors add a further 600hp, resulting in a colossal 1,850hp total.
Said to be capable of accelerating from 0-62mph in 2.3 seconds and reaching 280mph, the Aurora should make light work of the Goodwood hill climb.

Hypercar specialist Lanzante is commemorating the company’s victory at the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans with the McLaren F1. But rather than simply having a party, Lanzante has decided to build a limited-edition hypercar instead.
The 95-59’s McLaren 750S-based carbon fibre chassis has been adapted to provide seating for three, just like the iconic McLaren F1. Power comes from a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine mounted in the middle, with an output said to be in excess of 850hp.
Production will be limited to 59 examples, with prices to start from £1,224,000.

In comparison to the Lanzante, the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray represents a performance bargain, priced from £153,440 in the UK.
Combining a mid-mounted 6.2-litre V8 engine with an electric motor driving the front axle results in a combined output of 643hp. This means the Corvette E-Ray can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 2.9 seconds, helped by its electrically assisted all-wheel drive.
This makes it the fastest Corvette ever sold in the UK. However, the E-Ray can silently cruise the streets at up to 44mph when electric ‘Stealth Mode’ is engaged.

Maserati has treated the MC20 mid-engined sports car to an update for 2025, and with it comes a new name.
The new MCPura moniker is perhaps the biggest change of all, as only the mildest of styling updates is applied. Maserati has also left the twin-turbocharged V6 ‘Nettuno’ engine untouched, although it still produces a more-than-adequate 630hp.
New paint colours, redesigned alloy wheels and an update for the infotainment system complete the makeover.

Replacing the Ferrari Roma grand tourer is the new Amalfi, giving the Italian marque’s entry-level model a sharp new look on the outside. There is even a special new launch paint colour, Verde Costiera, said to be inspired by the Amalfi coast in Italy.
Minor tweaks have been applied to the 3.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, which produces 20hp more than in the Roma. A new output of 640hp allows for a top speed close to 200mph.
Inside, Ferrari has given the Amalfi a new 10.25-inch touchscreen, now mounted horizontally, and replaced the haptic touchpads with real buttons on the steering wheel.

Aston Martin gave the Vantage a thorough update in 2024, extracting 30 percent more power from its twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine. For the new Vantage S, an extra 15hp has been found, taking the total output to 680hp.
The driver-focused ‘S’ also gains detailed suspension tweaks, which are said to boost cornering ability – but not at the expense of ride quality. There is also a new rear spoiler and front splitter, plus plenty of red detailing for the exterior.
Available to order in both coupe and roadster forms, the first completed cars will be delivered later this year.

Hyundai has revealed the follow-up to its impressive Ioniq 5 N performance SUV, turning the Ioniq 6 into an electric super saloon.
Using a similar dual-motor setup to the Ioniq 5 N, the new Ioniq 6 N packs 650hp when running in boost mode. Using launch control, the four-door Hyundai can hit 62mph in 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of nearly 160mph.
The ‘N Drift Optimizer’ gains more settings to help perfect your sliding technique (on a track, of course). The Ioniq 6 N can also simulate the sound and effect of an eight-speed paddleshift gearbox.

The M2 CS takes BMW’s compact coupe concept and turns it up to 11, thanks to wild styling additions and a healthy boost in power.
With its 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged straight-six now generating 530hp – the same as a BMW M4 Competition – the M2 CS is a serious performance car. Carbon fibre parts help save 30kg, while sticky track day tyres are on the options list.
It was enough for the M2 CS to set a Nurburgring lap record in testing, meaning BMW should feel pretty confident about how it will fare on the Goodwood hill climb.

Land Rover has three new models on display at Goodwood, all of which have received a moody ‘Black’ makeover.
Top of the tree is the flagship Range Rover SV Black, with Narvik Black paintwork, plus gloss black detailing on almost every exterior surface. This continues inside, with Ebony ‘near-aniline’ leather upholstery and black birch veneer trim.
A 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine delivers 615hp. Prices for the Range Rover SV Black begin at £188,025.

The Range Rover Sport lineup has been enhanced, with the 635hp SV model now a permanent fixture. Alongside this comes an SV Black version, too.
Said to look like it has been ‘dipped in black’, the SV features Narvik Black exterior paint, a black‑painted carbon fibre bonnet, and Gloss Black forged 23‑inch alloy wheels. Even the quad exhaust tailpipes get the monochrome treatment.
Ebony Windsor leather upholstery and gloss Grand Black trim are found inside the SV Black. It’s yours for £139,995.

Powered by a 635hp twin-turbo V8, the epic Land Rover Defender Octa is already rather intimidating. Clearly not enough to satisfy Land Rover, though, which has created a Black version.
Sticking to the formula, Narvik Black paintwork is used for the bodywork, combined with 30 trim pieces finished in either gloss or satin black. This includes everything from badges to alloy wheels, and even the exposed towing eyes.
Black leather is the order of the day for the interior, although the seat-backs buck the trend with a Carpathian Grey finish. Prices start from £158,045 for the new Octa Black.

MG has made a huge effort for the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, packing its stand with an assortment of new vehicles. Among them is the Cyberster Black: proof that it isn’t just Land Rover giving cars the ‘noir’ treatment.
The electric two-seat roadster has been given a makeover with deep gloss paintwork that includes ultra-fine glass particles. This is said to create the effect of the Cyberster having both a matte and smooth finish.
On the inside, black leather is used throughout, contrasting with the chrome trim.

Demonstrating the potential future of MG’s design language is the Cyber X Concept.
With the Chinese brand planning to continue developing its ‘Cyber’ sub-brand, the compact electric SUV could become a production reality in the near future.
Matte grey paintwork and pop-up headlights are just some of the highlights.

OK, this is not a new car; it was displayed at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed. In our defence, however, the EX4 was developed as a tribute to the legendary MG Metro 6R4 Group B rally car.
It is also worth noting that MG has given this 435hp all-electric SUV a new livery for 2025, which is a good enough reason for us to feature it here.

The Chinese brand does have a host of new real-world cars on display at Goodwood, including the new MG IM5, which was first announced at the 2025 Geneva Motor Show.
Offered with a choice of 75kWh and 100kWh battery packs, the IM5 is a compact electric saloon, capable of up to 441 miles when fully charged.
Prices start from £39,450, and include a gigantic 26.3-inch infotainment display and panoramic roof as standard.

MG also has the IM6 SUV on display at Goodwood: effectively an SUV version of the IM5 saloon.
Offered with the same battery options, and strong level of standard equipment, the more spacious IM6 costs from £47,995.

There is no shortage of Chinese manufacturers at Goodwood this year, with Chery using the Festival of Speed to confirm its first model for the UK market.
The Tiggo Super 8 Hybrid will be the marque’s flagship SUV, with room for seven people inside, plus a potential range of up to 745 miles. Making the latter possible is a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, combined with a battery pack that allows the Tiggo Super 8 to cover 56 miles on EV power alone.
UK prices for the new SUV will be announced in the coming weeks.

Jaecoo has already established itself in the UK with the 7 SUV. This will be joined later in 2025 by the smaller Jaecoo 5.
Powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine, the Jaecoo 5 is being driven up the Goodwood hill climb by an all-female team this year.
Standard will include a Sony audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and automatic headlights. Fancier versions will receive a panoramic sunroof and ventilated front seats.

Denza is the luxury spin-off from Chinese manufacturer BYD, making its UK debut at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
One of the first models to hit the British market will be the electric Z9GT shooting brake, which bears a passing resemblance to the Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo.
It matches the premium German for performance, too, with a colossal 965hp from its trio of electric motors. Despite weighing more than 2,800kg, the Z9GT can accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds.

Following the Denza Z9GT to the UK will be the B5, a rugged 4×4 in the mould of the Land Rover Defender or Toyota Land Cruiser.
A traditional ladder frame chassis shows the B5 is intended to be more than a mere lifestyle SUV.  Chinese-market versions are offered with adjustable hydraulic suspension.
