The much-awaited Tata Sierra launch date in India is finally nearing, bringing back one of the brand’s most iconic SUVs in a modern avatar. Tata Motors will introduce the Sierra in two versions – the electric model is expected to debut around 20th October 2025 during the festive season, while the ICE variant will arrive in Q1 2026.
Packed with advanced features, multiple engine options, and a bold design, the new Sierra will directly challenge popular midsize SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Grand Vitara.
Tata Sierra 2025 EV will be the first to launch in India. Based on Tata’s advanced Acti.ev+ platform, it is likely to share its powertrain with the Harrier EV. Battery options are expected to include 65kWh and 75kWh LFP units, delivering a driving range of 450-500km on a single charge.
The electric SUV could be offered in both rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive setups, with AWD reserved for the top trims. On the inside, the Sierra EV is expected to feature premium equipment such as a panoramic sunroof, dual-screen dashboard, ventilated seats, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, Level 2 ADAS, and a 360-degree camera.

While the EV takes the spotlight first, the Tata Sierra ICE will follow by early 2026. A test mule of the SUV has already been spied on Indian roads, revealing a simpler and cost-effective Tata Sierra entry-level trim. Spy images show steel wheels, halogen headlamps, black ORVMs, and unpainted cladding, suggesting a rugged, affordable version for budget-conscious buyers.
The ICE-powered Sierra will be offered with multiple engine options:
1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine – entry-level option.
1.5-litre turbo petrol engine (170hp, 280Nm) – to join later.
2.0-litre turbo diesel (170hp, 350Nm) – borrowed from Harrier & Safari.
1.5-litre turbo diesel – possible for lower trims.
Both the Tata Sierra 2025 EV and ICE versions will share a rugged silhouette but differ in styling and technology. The ICE variant is expected to get a traditional grille with air dams for cooling, while the EV will sport a closed-off grille and aerodynamic bumper.
Inside, the ICE model could feature a triple-screen layout including a driver display, infotainment system, and passenger screen, while the EV may adopt a dual-screen setup for a cleaner cabin look.
In terms of equipment, both models will offer premium comfort and safety. The Sierra EV is expected to come with a 12.3-inch infotainment system, 10.25-inch digital cluster, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, wireless charging, powered tailgate, and ADAS.
The Sierra ICE, inspired by the Curvv, Harrier, and Safari, will bring features like a triple-screen dashboard, Level 2 ADAS, ventilated and powered seats, panoramic sunroof, and multiple powertrain choices. Together, these features make the Sierra one of the most technologically advanced midsize SUVs to enter the Indian market.
