India’s electric SUV market is heating up with Maruti Suzuki, Tata, and Mahindra gearing up to launch their new EVs. Maruti E-Vitara, Tata Sierra EV, and Mahindra XEV 9S are set to hit showrooms between November and December 2025, offering advanced features, impressive battery options, and long driving ranges.

New Delhi: More than 100,000 electric vehicles (EVs) were registered in India from April to October in the 2025-26 fiscal year, nearly double the number registered in the same period last year. Amid growing EV demand, automobile companies are preparing to launch new electric SUVs. If you’re considering buying a new electric SUV, three major models will be available in the coming months.

Maruti Suzuki will enter the EV market with its first electric SUV, the E-Vitara. Sales will begin on December 2, 2025. The E-Vitara will come in two battery options, 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The larger battery variant will feature a dual motor setup and all-wheel drive (AWD). Maruti claims this SUV will offer a range of over 500 km on a full charge.
The Tata Sierra EV will be unveiled on November 25, 2025. Its specifications are likely to be based on the Harrier EV’s powertrain. It will offer 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery options. The 65 kWh battery will be paired with the rear motor (238 PS), while the 75 kWh battery will be paired with the front motor (158 PS). Tata claims the Sierra EV can deliver a range of 500+ km on a single charge.

The Mahindra XEV 9S will share the XEV 9e’s platform and powertrain. It will be available in 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery options. The higher variants will boast a range of over 600 km and features like a triple-screen setup, a Harman Kardon sound system, sliding second-row seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory function.
The launch of these new SUVs will further intensify competition in the Indian EV market. Long range, high-tech features, and multiple battery options will prove to be attractive options for customers. These SUVs from Maruti, Tata and Mahindra will set new standards for EV buyers.
