In 2025, we got many locally produced Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs). As the name suggests, a PHEV combines a conventional petrol engine with a rechargeable battery, giving you the best of both worlds.
How?
For daily commutes, that means quiet, low-cost drives on electric power. For longer trips, the petrol engine steps in, killing range anxiety.
In 2025, Pakistani buyers got serious, high-performance options from brands like Haval, BYD, and Jaecoo
And it was no longer just about flashy imported units! Locally assembled models also rolled out, bringing better pricing, easier maintenance, and a genuinely cleaner direction for Pakistan’s urban mobility.
Here’s a look at the key PHEVs that hit Pakistani roads in 2025.
Pakistan’s auto landscape shifted in favor of PHEVs due to several factors:
Brands responded swiftly. CKD production began for multiple PHEVs, making pricing more attractive and service easier for urban customers.
BYD, the Chinese new energy heavyweight, entered Pakistan’s utility segment with the Shark 6, the country’s first plug-in hybrid pickup. The current units are CBU, with plans to start local assembly by mid-2026. The Shark 6 uses BYD’s DMO (Dual Mode Off-Road) Technology, blending electric-like efficiency in the city with serious off-road and towing capability when needed.

Haval, Great Wall Motors’ global SUV brand, entered Pakistan’s hybrid game with the H6 PHEV, built locally by Sazgar. Officially launched in August 2025 as Pakistan’s first locally assembled plug-in hybrid SUV, it came as CKD from day one. With an AWD powertrain, big torque, and real EV range, it puts Haval firmly in the serious hybrid bracket.

Jaecoo J7 SHS is Nishat Group’s first locally assembled plug-in hybrid SUV, built at its Faisalabad CKD plant in partnership with Chery International. Launched in November 2025, with CKD production in December, it offers 1,200+ km range, 90 km EV range, and a mid-size package aimed at Pakistani families.
Now Rs 10,499,000 after price revision in Dec 2025

At PAPS 2025 at the Karachi Expo Centre, Chery, with its local partner Master Group, pulled the covers off a trio of full PHEV SUVs: Tiggo 7 PHEV, Tiggo 8 PHEV, and Tiggo 9 PHEV.

No prices or booking dates have been announced yet, but Chery and Master have indicated that local launch and CKD production are planned for 2026.
Pakistan is not fully ready for a pure electric leap as infrastructure and policy need time, but 2025 proved PHEVs fit our reality. They cut fuel bills, ease range anxiety, and suit urban buyers who do city runs plus occasional long trips. For many Pakistanis, the smart next car is not petrol or EV but a PHEV.
