We informed you earlier that Hyundai will launch an all-new SUV in our market before the end of 2026. It is expected to be the next-generation Hyundai Creta; however, a new media report claims that the Bayon crossover will arrive in our market in 2026.
The new Hyundai crossover will be based on the Bayon on sale in select international markets. It is based on the same architecture that underpins the i20 hatchback. While the global-spec model is above 4 meters in length, Hyundai will make certain changes to keep its length under 4 meters. Moreover, the India-spec model will receive design and interior changes.
The new Hyundai Bayon will directly rival the Fronx crossover, which will also receive a mid-life facelift in 2026. The new Bayon will have a different front design compared to the European-spec model. Its design will be in-line with the new-gen Hyundai SUVs, including the Venue. The side profile appears like a jagged-up version of the i20 hatchback with higher ground clearance, sweeping shoulder line and a coupe-styled roofline.
The Bayon crossover is likely to share features with the new Venue and Exter. It is expected to get a larger touchscreen infotainment unit and a digital driver’s display. Other key features could include ADAS, 8-speaker Bose sound system, four-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, automatic climate control and powered driver’s seat.
The new crossover is likely to get a 1.2L NA petrol and a 1.0L turbo petrol engine. Hyundai is also working on a new 1.2L turbo petrol engine, which will be hybrid ready. This engine could also power the Bayon crossover.
