Trucks, Hybrids Behind Ford’s Solid Sales Jump in 2025 – thetruthaboutcars.com

The public’s never-ending love of pickups combined with a new appreciation for hybrid vehicles fueled a 6 percent jump in new vehicle sales for Ford Motor Co. in 2025.

Ford sold more than 2.2 million cars, trucks, and SUVs last year, gaining 0.6 percent in market share, pushing it to 13.2 percent. The automaker also laid claim the title of “America’s best-selling truck manufacturer.” The F-Series was the top seller in the U.S. — up 8.3 percent over 2024 — again, a title the company has touted for more than five decades.
“This past year proved that Ford has the right product and powertrain offering for the lives of our customers,” said Andrew Frick, president, Ford Blue and Model e, in a statement. “We’re growing share and beating the trend because we offer a great range of products, from accessible entry-level models to high-performance off-roaders. Our growth across record hybrid sales shows that our ‘power of choice’ approach — offering gas, hybrid, and electric — is exactly what consumers are looking for right now.”
As Frick noted, it was a “team” effort as the company’s Maverick small pickup enjoyed a record sales year, jumping 18.2 percent to 155,051 units. Ford also set a new benchmark for hybrid sales at 228,072: a 21.7 percent increase year-over-year.
Also setting records last year were the Bronco, Pro Transit, F-150 Hybrid, and its Raptor offerings. Ford officials noted the Explorer was the best-selling three-row SUV in 2025 as well, with 222,706 units sold, which accounted for a 14.7 percent increase.
The only dark clouds came from the Lincoln brand, which saw the Corsair, Nautilus, and Aviator all drop in 2025. However, the Navigator came in an saved the brand with a 42.8 percent jump compared to 2024, pushing Lincoln to a 2 percent increase overall. The 22,185 units was Lincoln’s best result since 2007, the company noted.
