Toyota Kirloskar Motor is all set to launch its first BEV, the Urban Cruiser EV. Essentially a badge-engineered Maruti e Vitara, it is set for a 20 January launch. Here’s what you should know.
Visually, the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will borrow the same Maruti DNA – not too futuristic, yet not dated. The Toyota BEV will get the same closed-off grille, ADAS module, active air flaps, 18-inch dual-tone alloys, and body-coloured ORVMs.
The interior will also get a dual-tone treatment, vertical AC vents, button-based HVAC controls, single-pane sunroof, two-spoke steering, 10.25-inch infotainment, and a 10.1-inch instrument cluster.
Mechanically, the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will get the same 48.8kWh (142bhp/192.5Nm) and 61.1kWh (172bhp/192.5Nm) LFP battery packs, with a claimed range of up to 500km. The Urban Cruiser EV will rival the Vinfast VF 6, MG Windsor EV, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6, Maruti e Vitara, Hyundai Creta Electric, Kia Carens Clavis EV, and upcoming EV offerings from Volkswagen, Skoda, and Honda.
