MG Majestor
MG Motor India’s first launch in the new calendar year will be the Majestor SUV. Essentially a top-spec version of the Gloster SUV, it will lock horns with the Toyota Fortuner Legender. The prices of this upcoming model will be announced on 12 February.
Showcased at the Auto Expo last year, the Gloster is based on the Maxus D90 SUV, and it sets itself apart from the Gloster with a different design. The differentiating elements include fresh front and rear bumpers, new grille, vertically stacked headlamps, sleek LED DRLs, new LED tail lights, and a fresh set of alloy wheels. It will be powered by the same 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and 4×4 hardware.
BMW X3 30 M Sport Pro
BMW is set to introduce a new, range-topping variant in the X3 lineup. Called the X3 30 xDrive M Sport Pro, the prices of this new offering will be revealed on 16 February. This top-end variant will feature a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that produces an output of 258bhp and 400Nm. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the model also boasts a 48V mild-hybrid system.
A few highlights of the new X3 30 M Sport Pro include an illuminated grille, 20-inch wheels with a staggered tyre setup, new Brooklyn Grey paint, smoked headlamps and tail lights, new soft-touch inserts for the interior, and the signature M three colour stitching for the seat belts.
Nissan Gravite
Nissan is gearing up for two model debuts later this month, one of which will be the Gravite. This three-row, sub-four-metre MPV will be based on the same underpinnings as the Triber. To set itself apart from this distant sibling, though, it will receive a distinct exterior design. The changes to the feature list remain unknown at the moment.
Under the hood, the Gravite is expected to be powered by a familiar 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, NA petrol engine paired with five-speed manual and AMT units. The power output is likely to be rated at 71bhp and 96Nm. The reveal of this new model is set to take place on 17 February.
Maruti e Vitara
Another model showcased at the Auto Expo last year, the prices of the e Vitara will finally be announced later this month, although the date continues to remain under wraps. Maruti’s first all-electric model will also spawn a Toyota derivative in the form of the Urban Cruiser Ebella.
To be available in 10 colours across three variants, customers will be able to choose from two battery pack options – 48.8kWh and 61kWh, with an ARAI-certified range of 543km on a single charge. We have driven the e Vitara, and you can read our review on the website.
Volkswagen Tayron
One of the five Volkswagen cars set to be launched in India in the current calendar year, the Tayron will sit at the helm of the company’s SUV range. Pre-bookings for this model are currently open for Rs. 51,000, although a definite launch date is yet to be confirmed.
Powering the Tayron will be a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine developing 201bhp and 320Nm, sending power to the wheels via a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission. It will be offered in a single, fully loaded variant across seven colours.
Nissan Tekton
Nissan’s second debut in one month will be the Tekton, which follows shortly after the reveal of its sibling, the new-gen Duster. Once launched, it will rival the Maruti Victoris, Tata Sierra, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, and the Volkswagen Taigun.
The Tekton is an important car for the brand in India, and will be followed by a three-row version sometime next year. Currently, the carmaker retails only two models in the local market, the Magnite and the X-Trail. We already have a fair idea of what to expect from this mid-size SUV, and the details are now live on our website.
