We are back with a third story on new car launches in 2026. In the first one, we saw cars from the likes of Hyundai and Kia, while in the second story, we furnished updates on manufacturers like Tata and Mahindra. The third part of this story summarises all car launches in 2026.
Showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo, this will be MG’s new flagship ICE vehicle. Essentially a Gloster SUV facelift, it will be positioned above the latter, and will be sold alongside. Exterior highlights include a new face, tail-lamp cluster, and wheels. The overall internal layout is similar to that of the Gloster, but with new colours, new dual digital screens, and an upgraded feature list. Power comes from a 2.0-litre diesel motor that produces 218bhp and 478Nm. An eight-speed AT is standard, while we expect 4WD to be offered with at least two variants.
Toyota will start 2026 rather quietly, thanks to its iteration of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. Called the Urban Cruiser EV, it sports the same dimensions and interiors as the e Vitara, but gets a new face and colour schemes. More importantly, it will make use of the same 49kWh and 61kWh battery packs offered with the Suzuki model. Like the e Vitara, this Urban Cruiser will enter a crowded segment, where it will face the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, Kia Carens Clavis EV, Mahindra BE 6, MG Windsor EV, Tata Curvv EV, Tata Sierra EV, and future models from Honda, Skoda, and VW.
While this has not been officially announced, we expect an update for the Innova Hycross. This is expected to include some new design elements, upgraded ADAS, and a new feature list. The latter is expected to concentrate on a better rear-seat package, as this is one of the main selling points of the Hycross family. With rumours suggesting that Toyota will be closing the door on the Crysta in near future due to new emission norms, the Hycross will play a much bigger role, and we could possibly see ZX hybrid-exclusive features in non-hybrid versions.
2025 was a busy year for Citroen. It announced and implemented its 2.0 program, refreshing its touch points and introducing the X trim for all its models. This new trim has brought new interiors and a much-needed feature list upgrade for the complete four-model Citroen budget range, further enhancing the VFM quotient. However, Citroen still has two cars that are due from them for India.
The first will be a CNG-powered Aircross. Citroen, like many others in the segment, has seen the potential for CNG power. The carmaker started acting on the same by offering it as a company-certified dealer-level retrofitment last year. This kit is currently available with the C3 and the Basalt. It is now expected to be offered with the Aircross, thereby completing the loop. The automaker had hinted that it was working on the same, with an aim to initially launch it in petrol-heavy regions like Delhi NCR, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.
The final car to join the X family, will be the eC3. The updates will be exactly the same as what’s offered on the C3X, but possibly with no mechanical changes. This will bring the eC3 back to the forefront against cars like the Tiago EV, Tigor EV, and the MG Comet.
Vinfast has officially confirmed the Limo Green for India. Set for a Q1 2026 showcase, it will be Vinfast’s Kia Carens Clavis EV rival, offering a similar range, feature list, and space. It has a claimed range of 450km, 2.8-metre wheelbase, and a charging time of 30 minutes to go from 10-70 per cent. This will stand alongside the VF 6, but offer bigger value in terms of overall packaging. This means yet another vehicle entering the segment currently populated by cars like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Kia Carens Clavis EV, Mahindra BE 6, MG Windsor EV, Tata Curvv EV, Maruti e Vitara, Tata Sierra EV, and future models from Honda, Skoda, and Volkswagen.
While the Limo Green will be Vinfast’s largest car to come to India, Vinfast will also make a debut at the other end of the scale, with the unique-looking VF 3 micro-SUV. A direct rival to the MG Comet, Citroen eC3, and the Tata Tiago EV, it is expected to be priced under Rs. 10 lakh, and will be the second time a manufacturer is bringing a three-door vehicle to India. We expect Vinfast to place a significant emphasis on the commercial space, due to the potential that the VF 3 brings as an urban mobility solution in congested tier-1 cities.
