The Indian car market will welcome 4 new SUVs, including the long-awaited VinFast VF6 and VF7 in the first week of September 2025. Maruti Suzuki will launch its all-new mid-sized SUV on September 3, while Citroen will introduce the new top-of-the-line Basalt X on September 5. Prices of the two VinFast electric SUVs will be revealed on Sept 6, 2025.

Rumoured to be called either Escudo or Victoris, the new Maruti SUV will be exclusively sold through ARENA dealership network. It will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and others in the category. The SUV is reportedly to be slightly longer than the Grand Vitara and will offer a bigger boot.
The SUV will be equipped with LEVEL 2 ADAS, powered tailgate, Dolby Atmos audio tech and a panoramic sunroof. It is also expected to get an underbody CNG tank, which will allow Maruti engineers to free space in the boot. The engine choices will remain same as the Grand Vitara, offering a 1.5L mild-hybrid, a 1.5L strong hybrid and a CNG.

The VinFast VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs will finally go on sale in the country on September 6, 2025. Interested buyers can pre-book the new electric SUVs online, while deliveries are expected to commence closer to Diwali – around late Sept or October 2025. The VF6 will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV and others. It is packed with a 59.6kWh battery pack and offers a maximum range of up to 410km.
The VinFast VF7 will be the brand’s flagship model and will take on the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6 and BYD Sealion 7. It is packed with a 70.8kWh battery pack with a front-axle-mounted electric motor. The electric SUV offers a WLTP claimed range of 450km on a single charge.

Citroen will reveal the Basalt X SUV Coupe on September 5. Bookings for the new top-end variant has already been started online or at authorised dealerships at a token amount of Rs 11,000. Similar to the C3 X, the Basalt X will receive cosmetic upgrades, including a new dashboard pattern and bronze treatment and different trims for AC vents and door panels.
Adding to it, the SUV will have a longer list of features. It is likely to get keyless entry, push-button start/stop, an optional 360-degree camera and a new Garnet Red exterior shade. The Citroen Basalt X will be powered by a 1.2L, 3-cylinder, turbo petrol engine producing 110bhp and 190Nm of torque with the manual gearbox. Torque rises to 2105Nm when paired with the 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
