Upcoming Volkswagen Cars – Taigun Facelift

One of the SUVs that VW will launch in 2026 is expected to be the Taigun facelift. The timeline is yet to be announced, but we expect it to happen in the first half of next year. The SUV is based on the Skoda Kushaq and shares everything with it. Be it the platform, feature list or the engine options, everything is identical. However, both Kushaq & Taigun are yet to create a significant impact in the segment. For this reason, Skoda is readying the Kushaq facelift while VW will launch the Taigun facelift. We already have a few details of the Kushaq facelift, and a similar treatment is expected for the VW SUV as well.

Given that this is a mere facelift, we do not expect any significant changes, at least in terms of body shape. The design, however, is expected to be completely new. So, expect the Taigun facelift to come with new headlamps, new front grille, new front & rear bumpers and new alloy wheels. Similarly, the interior is also expected to receive some design enhancements. The highlight of the Taigun facelift is the feature list. With the facelift, the Taigun will get a better touchscreen system, better digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof & Level 2 ADAS. Also, it could even get rear massage seats, which are expected to debut with the Kushaq facelift.
In terms of engine options, though, we do not expect major changes. It will likely continue with the same 1.0-litre TSI (114bhp & 178Nm) & 1.5-litre TSI engine options. Currently, the smaller engine comes with 6MT & 6AT gearbox options, while the larger engine comes with 6MT & 7DSG gearbox options. However, the facelift could bring a new 8AT gearbox for the smaller 1.0-litre TSI engine.
Volkswagen Virtus Facelift

Another makeover of the current VW that is expected to be launched in 2026 is the Virtus facelift. This will be in line with the upcoming Skoda Slavia facelift. And as these four cars are based on the same platform & share similar engine options, not much will be changed in those departments. In fact, everything that we expect the Taigun facelift to receive can be said for the Vritus facelift as well.

So, just like the Taigun, the Virtus will also receive some exterior design enhancements. This includes – new headlamps, new front grille, new front & rear bumpers and new alloy wheels. On the inside, we can expect some design changes to the dashboard, including new features expected on the Tiagun facelift. Talking about the launch, VW could launch the Virtus facelift post the launch of the Taigun!
Upcoming Volkswagen Cars – Tayron

After launching the facelifts of its current line-up, VW will then likely launch the most-awaited SUV – the Tayron! For starters, the Tayron is a 7-seater SUV that is based on the Skoda Kodiaq. However, the Tayron has its own distinctive – typical VW design language.

On the outside, it shared design cues with the Taigun R Line – launched earlier this year. Just like the Taigun R Line, the Tayron gets sleek headlamps, a sleek front grille and aggressively styled bumpers. The side profile of the Tayron is equally sleek and has a tall stance for adequate headroom for all three rows. And at the rear, it gets sleek connected tail lamps & neat design for the bumpers.

Similar to the exterior, the interior will have design cues of the Taigun R Line. Just like any other VW, the Tayron is expected to have a practical cabin, with soft-touch elements to enhance its premium feel. In terms of features, we are expecting the Tayron to come equipped with – 15-inch touchscreen infotainment, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, three-zone climate control, HUD, powered front seats, front massage seats, an 8-speaker audio system, wireless charging, Level 2 ADAS and more.
What is also expected to be similar is the engine option. Just like the Kodiaq or the Taigun R Line, the Taryon is expected to offer a 2.0-litre TSI (201bhp & 320Nm). Having said that, the launch could happen in the first half of 2026 with an expected price range of Rs 48 lakh to Rs 57 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
Volkswagen Tera

The final & most important Volkswagen SUV expected to be launched in 2026 is the Tera! Again, a VW product that will be highly based on its Skoda counterpart. Confused, which SUV? Well, it will be VW’s version of the Skoda Kylaq. As we know, the Kylaq is doing some excellent sales for Skoda. And looking at that success, VW will be interested in jumping into this segment with the Tera, which is currently on sale in global markets. However, for India, Volkswagen may launch the SUV with the legendary nameplate – the Polo!

So, the upcoming VW Polo or the Tera will share almost everything with the Kylaq. In terms of features, the VW is expected to get – a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, powered driver seat, ventilated front seats, 6-speaker surround sound system, wireless charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay amongst others in its package. Regarding powertrain, the Kylaq is available with a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine (113 bhp & 178 Nm), mated with a 6MT & 6AT gearbox options. A similar setup is expected for its VW iteration as well.
Now, VW is yet to make any official statement regarding the launch. Still, we expect that VW will launch the SUV in 2026. Pricing-wise, the VW SUV could be priced anywhere between Rs 9.30 lakh & Rs 15.60 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
