Big Launches Still To Come in 2025: These SUVs Gear Up For A Blockbuster Year-End – ZigWheels.com

Cars launching this year

If you’re an auto enthusiast in India, the next two months of 2025 are set to be one of the busiest in recent memory. Between long-awaited comebacks and all-electric debuts, several carmakers are racing to hit the market before the calendar flips.
From Tata’s legendary Sierra making a modern return to Maruti Suzuki’s first mass-market EV and Mahindra’s ambitious electric SUV, the months of November and December are loaded. Add the latest Tata Harrier and Safari with petrol engines, and the year-end finish is going to be exciting.
Maruti’s first, true EV, the eVitara, is shaping up to be one of the biggest launches of the year. Expected to launch in December 2025, it will be positioned in the Nexa network to align with Maruti’s premium strategy. The eVitara will arrive in India as a front-wheel-drive (FWD) with a 61 kWh battery pack, producing 174 PS and 192 Nm of torque. The range would be approximately 500 km, but importantly, it will sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in under 9 seconds, which is on par with the contemporaries.
Additionally, there’s also a 49 kWh battery pack, delivering 144 PS and 192 Nm of torque. Despite several delays in its launch, we are quite sure Maruti will launch the car and announce prices in November.

Mahindra’s XEV 7e, essentially the all-electric equivalent of the XUV700, continues to be tested on Indian roads. Underpinned by the new INGLO platform, the SUV will reportedly offer two battery packs—59 kWh and 79 kWh—along with a single-motor rear-wheel-drive powertrain; and an optional dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant is available on higher trims.
While Mahindra has indicated a late November launch, we expect the deliveries to begin as early as 2026. But given the company’s success with the BE 6 and XEV 9e, the XEV 7e might serve as a benchmark if it meets the year-end deadline.

Few names inspire the same sense of nostalgia and intrigue as Tata Sierra’s. The iconic SUV has been caught testing numerous times in its new form, with the internal-combustion variant coming to market first, powered by Tata’s new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine making about 170 PS and 280 Nm of torque.
Although not officially confirmed, we are expecting Tata to introduce the Sierra ICE in the first week of December and begin deliveries by early 2026. The Sierra EV was also showcased alongside the ICE version at the Auto Expo 2025 and is expected to arrive in the last week of December, though no timeline has been announced yet. Can Tata finally revive the Sierra badge without missing yet another deadline?

The diesel monopoly years are finally over for Tata Motors as it plans to introduce petrol versions of its flagship offerings, the Harrier and Safari. The duo should be hitting the market in the latter parts of December 2025, on the same 1.5-litre T-GDi petrol engine that will drive the upcoming Sierra ICE.
This new engine, which will deliver about 170 PS and 280 Nm, will be offered with both a manual and an automatic transmission. For Tata, this is one step further than in diesel sales and puts its SUVs on the same level as those of Hyundai, MG, and Mahindra.

The Indian SUV space is all set to hit top gear. The Harrier and Safari petrols look locked and loaded, Maruti’s eVitara seems poised to break cover, while Tata’s Sierra and Mahindra’s XEV 7e are fighting against time. If these launches go as expected, November and December 2025 could go down as among the most exciting months in recent history.
Because at the end of the day, it’s not about who announces first; it’s about who really delivers. Which car are you waiting for? Let us know in the comments.
