The Motability Scheme is an affordable way to lease a safe, reliable and practical new car. Every quarter, there are many new models available for no or low Advance Payment. This means you can get into a brand-new car for no up-front Advance Payment at all, or with just a small Advance Payment of a few hundred pounds.
Leasing a new car is exciting. The latest cars are better than ever thanks to the growth of technology. They are packed with high-tech features that driving easier, safer and more comfortable. A new car on the Motability Scheme looks after you and other road users while you drive. They also make motoring more fun!
Because petrol and diesel cars are being phased out from 2030, I have included several electric cars (also known as EVs) here. More affordable EVs are being added to the Motability Scheme all the time. Use the clever comparison page to see how different electric cars compare for range and value for money.
Remember, when you lease your first electric car, Motability Scheme customers with off-street parking will get a home charger installed at no extra cost. This means you can charge at home in the most cost-effective way. You can start each day with a fully charged battery.
If you cannot have a home chargepoint installed, you’ll get a subscription to bp pulse, giving you access to the UK’s largest public charging network.
I have also included petrol-powered cars available for no or low Advance Payment, for those who are not yet ready to make the switch. And whether it is petrol, diesel or an electric car lease, all cars come with the Motability Scheme’s worry-free full lease package. This includes insurance, servicing and breakdown cover.
These are my choices with no or low Advance Payment this quarter, but there are plenty more new cars available on the Motability Scheme to suit all needs. Read on to be inspired about your next new car.
No Advance Payment
The Ford Puma is the best-selling car in the UK. The Ford Puma Gen-E is the all-electric version. It looks almost identical to the petrol car, and has a 43kWh battery with a range of up to 233 miles. It’s available in colours include a fun and bright Electric Yellow!
The Ford Puma is a great all-rounder. For a small SUV, it has a surprising amount of space inside. The driving position is commanding and I like the latest large-screen infotainment setup. Having a gear shifter on the steering column opens up the centre console for stowage space.
The Ford Puma Gen-E has a surprisingly large boot. At 556 litres, it is larger than even the petrol-powered model. It is extra-deep, with a huge area beneath the boot floor. This is known as the Ford GigaBox. Many Motability Scheme customers will find this extra space very useful indeed.

Alternatives to consider: If you like the Ford Puma and want to stick with petrol power, there is a 1.0 EcoBoost Hybrid version on the Motability Scheme. It too is currently available for no Advance Payment.

The Renault Captur is a pretty-looking small SUV. It is the crossover alternative to the popular Renault Clio. The version I’ve chosen here is the stylish Evolution model. It has a fuel-efficient 1.0-litre TCe engine and a slick manual gearbox.
The sharply-styled Renault Captur is great to look at. This updated version has a fresh front end that has a high-tech appearance. I like the interior too, particularly the latest Google-based touchscreen system. This includes Google Maps, the Google Play app store and even the voice-based Google Assistant. If you’re familiar with Google computer apps, you’ll find it easy to use.
The Renault Captur is roomy inside, and has a sliding rear bench seat as standard. This lets you balance rear legroom with boot space. Even with the seat positioned for maximum passenger space, the boot has 484 litres of space. Slide it forward and there’s a vast 616 litres of space. Many Motability Scheme customers will find this a really practical and useful feature to have.

Alternatives to consider: The Hyundai Bayon is a similar size to the Renault Captur. It has a practical design that blends SUV with MPV, and is available in Advance grade for no Advance Payment.

The Skoda Kamiq is the smallest SUV in the popular brand’s line-up. Like its larger siblings, the Kamiq has a practicality-first design. It is packed with detail touches that make living with it easier. I love the thought and attention that has gone into the smallest details.
This Skoda Kamiq has a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. It is economical, averaging over 52mpg. The version I’ve chosen here is the more powerful TSI 115, with sprightly acceleration and more pulling power once up to speed. I drove lots of long motorway trips during testing, and found it a lively engine to live with.
The Skoda Kamiq is practical too. The driving position has plenty of adjustment and the rear seats are comfortable. The boot is an ample 400 litres and it is a well-shaped space as well. This Skoda Kamiq SE Edition, available for no Advance Payment, has a useful reverse parking camera as standard. It also has voice control. This means you can press a button on the steering wheel and speak a command, rather than searching for the control in the centre display.

Alternatives to consider: If you like Skoda cars and would prefer a small hatchback, why not take a look at the Skoda Fabia? The 1.0 TSI 116 SE Evolution model is available on the Motability Scheme for no Advance Payment.
£199 Advance Payment
The Kia Sportage is another very popular new car in the UK. It is a roomy medium SUV that is currently available for an Advance Payment of just £199. Even better, the Kia Sportage has just been updated, with a striking and modern front end that looks really eye-catching.
The updated design of the Kia Sportage makes this popular car even more desirable. I love the vertically-stacked headlights with their sleek LED lighting strips. There are new colours to choose from, and even the design of the wheels has been refreshed.
This Kia Sportage Pure has a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine. It produces a handy 147bhp, so will cope easily even with five people on board. The front and rear seats are spacious and equipment levels generous. The boot is a large 487 litres and I found the square shape easily took even awkwardly-shaped items.

Alternatives to consider: The Kia Stonic is an ideal choice for those who want a smaller and more city-friendly SUV. The sporty GT-Line version is available for an Advance Payment of just £199.
No Advance Payment
The Nissan Juke is a British-built small SUV that is a frequent top 10 best-seller in the UK. The version I am looking at here has an economical 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, that averages nearly 49mpg. In Acenta Premium grade, it is available for no Advance Payment.
Many people love the vibrant styling of the Nissan Juke. It has characterful lines and a distinctive front end. It is sophisticated inside, with this latest version having a large-format centre touchscreen that is angled towards the driver for ease of use. It combines digital displays with easy-to-use physical controls, helping make it easier to drive.
The sporty style of the Nissan Juke is paired with a semi-high seating position. This makes it easier to see out of, and some will find it easier to get in and out of. Nissan has also worked hard on boot space, with the latest model having 422 litres of space. The boot of this 1.0 DiG-T version is much larger than the hybrid alternative, which Motability Scheme customers will find handy.

Alternatives to consider: If you prefer an automatic car, why not consider the same Nissan Juke with a DCT gearbox? It has the same spec as the model above, and is also available on the Motability Scheme for no Advance Payment. The choice is up to you!
