GEELY has launched in the UK – with Volvo’s budget sibling looking to storm the UK market with 10 new motors by 2030.
It all starts with the Geely EX5 Max electric SUV, with the bargain brand looking to undercut rivals by offering significant discounts and aggressive pricing – making EV ownership more accessible for everyone.

The Chinese carmarker, which is a major player in its homeland, owns or has stakes in multiple brands across Europe – like Volvo, Lotus, Polestar and Smart.
Now, they’ve launched their own models in the UK, with the debuting EX5 – a large electric SUV that will rival the likes of the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Skoda Enyaq, Ford Explorer and Tesla Model Y – that will start at around £31,990.
Fairly quick off the line while offering a respectable 257-mile range from a full charge, the EX5 also supports rapid charging which is quicker than many of its rivals – allowing for shorter top-up stops on longer journeys.
And it’s brilliantly tech-heavy, including a touchscreen, surround cameras, massage seats and even fold-flat seats for camping.

Initially, Geely will be launching with 25 dealers, with the aim for 100 outlets by 2026 – while over 750 dealers in the UK now sell Chinese brands, showing a generally rapid expansion.
Geely’s next plan is a whole host of electrified models between now and 2030, including crossovers, hatchbacks and various other segments.
Four models will be launched by the end of next year including two plug-in hybrids, while some others will be rebadged from Chinese market models.
They will also tailor some of their models for UK roads, with Geely having worked with their friends at Lotus Engineering to revise suspension and handling.

Indeed, their investment in UK-specific tuning could make Geely models more suited to local tastes.
Positioning itself as a value entry brand in its group, Geely is aiming to make electric cars more affordable for those who’ve yet to take the plunge – offering both good tech and long warranties.
This comes as one of Geely’s rivals, BYD, is set to go after the Ford Puma with the upcoming launch of the Atto 2 DM-i.
The baby plug-in hybrid SUV, which is roughly the same size as the wildly popular Puma, will be the smallest plug-in hybrid on the market – giving BYD a potentially unique advantage.
The Chinese carmaker says it is redefining compact SUVs with the release, which is almost identical to the Atto 2 EV version with only a handful of visual changes.
Eagle-eyed fans will spot a slightly larger grill, a new trim on the lower bumper, no side vents on the front wings, snazzy new rear badges and a charming Midnight Blue colour option.
Mechanically, details are sparse, but BYD says it will be able to drive up to 56 miles on electric power alone, perfect for a quick trip to the shops, and boasts a total range of some 621 miles using petrol and electric.
It’s got your budget in mind too, as the “DM-i” system, which stands for Dual Mode Intelligent, automatically switches between power sources for best efficiency.
