Jaguar unveils electric car launch 'next year' as British icon celebrates 90th anniversary – Birmingham Live
Jaguar has announced the launch of its first fully electric vehicle next year as the iconic manufacturer celebrates 90 years of industry-leading machines.
In London, the brand displayed the full historic spectrum of its models, from the original SS Jaguar to the most recent release of the Type 00.
The Jaguar Type 00 is the brand's biggest leap into the electric vehicle space, having first unveiled the model last year.

Rawdon Glover, director of Jaguar, said: "Jaguar has always been a pioneer of originality – defined by design excellence and a fearless, forward‑thinking spirit.
"Ahead of the launch of our production vehicle next year, it's vital we continue to remind people of what makes Jaguar unique: being bold, unexpected, and unapologetically different.
"With Type 00, we're challenging conventions in the automotive industry, just as the SS Jaguar did in its time."
It comes after Chancellor Rachel Reeves outlined the Autumn Budget, introducing a pay-per-mile levy on EV drivers.
EV motorists will now face a charge of around 3p per mile on top of other road fees from April 2028.
This means drivers will be charged for every journey made, as much as £12 if you choose to travel between London and Edinburgh.
Ms Reeves' change is said to aim to offset lost revenue generated by fuel duty, which is paid by diesel and petrol car owners.
In the leaked OBR report it states: “In 2028-29, the charge will equal £0.03 per mile for battery electric cars and £0.015 per mile for plug-in hybrid cars, with the rate per mile increasing annually with CPI.”
Around six million people are forecast to be owners of EVs as the new changes come into force.
The pay-per-mile change comes as numerous other amendments are expected to come into force following the Chancellor's Budget.
