Billionaire Sajjan Jindal-led JSW Group is all set to make a massive splash in the Indian automotive market under its own banner. JSW Motors has confirmed that it will launch its first passenger vehicle in June 2026. The debut model will be a premium Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) SUV, positioning the homegrown brand directly against global luxury heavyweights.
Premium Positioning & Pricing
According to sources, the upcoming SUV is likely to be priced around ₹45 lakh. This places JSW Motors squarely in the premium segment, competing with entry-level luxury offerings from brands like BMW and Mercedes-Benz, which are currently the primary sellers of PHEV technology in India. By choosing a Plug-in Hybrid over a pure EV for its debut, JSW aims to tap into a market that seeks the benefits of electric mobility without range anxiety.
Manufacturing & Partnerships
The production of this new SUV will commence at the company’s upcoming facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad), Maharashtra. Confirming the development, JSW Motors CEO Ranjan Nayak stated

“JSW Motors will make its debut in the passenger vehicle segment with a hybrid model later in the year 2026. Our planned facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar will be at the forefront of this endeavour”
While JSW Motors will sell cars under its own brand, it is reportedly in the “final lap” of sealing a technology partnership with an international automotive company. This deal, expected to be inked in the coming weeks, will focus on clean energy fuels including EVs, hybrids, and Range Extended Electric Vehicles (REEV).
Building on MG’s Success
This move follows JSW Group’s successful entry into the auto space in late 2023 through a joint venture with SAIC Motor to form JSW MG Motor India. The entity has already become the second-largest EV maker in the country, with the MG Windsor becoming the best-selling passenger EV in 2025. With JSW Motors now launching its own independent lineup, the group is aggressively expanding its footprint in India’s green mobility sector.
