Kia EV1: affordable electric city car launch details and price – тарантас ньюс
Kia is planning the EV1, a new electric city car priced 20,000-25,000 euros, smaller than the EV2, to compete with Volkswagen ID.1 and Renault Twingo.
Kia is considering the launch of a new electric city car, the EV1, which could become the most affordable model in the brand’s battery-powered vehicle lineup. Currently, the simplest offering from Kia among electric cars is the EV2—a compact model about 4 meters long, expected to debut by 2026, with a starting price estimated around 30,000 euros.
Kia’s CEO, Ho Sung Song, previously mentioned the potential EV1, emphasizing the need for a more compact and accessible electric vehicle. According to the company’s vision, such a model should compete with future offerings like the Volkswagen ID.1 and the new Renault Twingo.
Kia Group designer Jochen Paesen confirmed at the Brussels Auto Show that the brand recognizes the importance of the small electric vehicle segment and continues to work in this direction, though he did not provide specific details.
Preliminary information suggests that a concept for the EV1 could be unveiled by the end of the year. The model is expected to be smaller than the EV2, with a length of about 3.7 meters, and feature a 400-volt architecture. The anticipated price range is between 20,000 and 25,000 euros.
