New car launches in January 2026: Stunning SUV wave reshapes India market – Pune Mirror
New car launches in January 2026 are set to give India’s SUV-focused market a dramatic start to the year, with six major models from leading manufacturers confirmed.
Top brands including Mahindra, Kia, Tata, Renault, Maruti Suzuki and Nissan will introduce five SUVs and one MPV in the first month of 2026, targeting both new segments and core volume buyers. The line-up blends all-new nameplates with heavily updated bestsellers, aiming to refresh showrooms early in the calendar year.
Mahindra’s XUV 7XO, essentially a deeply reworked XUV700, is scheduled for launch on 5 January 2026. The SUV adopts design cues from Mahindra’s premium electric models. It adds a tech-heavy cabin with three screens, a 16-speaker audio system, a 540-degree camera setup, new ADAS visualisation graphics and upgraded materials.
Kia will announce prices for the second-generation Seltos on 2 January 2026, built on the K3 platform and featuring noticeable exterior styling changes, a reworked interior, and an extended feature list, while retaining familiar engines and gearboxes. Towards the end of the month, on 26 January 2026, Renault will relaunch the Duster on the CMF-B architecture, featuring India-specific tweaks, a modern cabin with a 10.1-inch touchscreen and Level 2 ADAS.
Tata Motors will roll out petrol-powered Harrier and Safari models powered by its new 1.5-litre Hyperion turbo-petrol engine, with upgrades such as an OLED infotainment display, Level 2 ADAS, and new Ultra trims. Maruti Suzuki will make a major EV push with the e-Vitara, based on the Heartect-e platform, offering two battery options and a claimed driving range of over 500 km, plus features like ADAS, a head-up display, and a large touchscreen. Nissan will introduce the Gravite compact MPV, built on the CMF-B platform shared with the Triber, promising distinctive styling, a more premium interior and familiar powertrain options.
Taken together, these new car launches in January 2026 underline how aggressively manufacturers are chasing India’s appetite for SUVs, advanced safety technology and feature-rich cabins. For buyers, the surge of SUVs and one MPV across petrol, EV and multi-seat formats is likely to intensify competition on pricing, equipment and innovation right from the start of the year.
