Nissan India announces launch plans: 3 new cars by 2027 – Autocar India

At the event that is likely to be the final teaser for the new Nissan MPV, christened Gravite, the brand has also revealed its launch plans for the next 2 years. By 2027, Nissan India’s portfolio will increase to four models, marking the Japanese company’s strong refocus on its Indian operations.
The expansion of its line-up will start with an MY2026 Magnite. This is likely to be a minor update in terms of features for the compact SUV, which rivals the likes of the Renault Kiger and Maruti Fronx. No major design or mechanical changes are expected. The updated Magnite is likely to launch before the Gravite arrives in showrooms in March.
Before Nissan reveals Gravite prices in March, the Japanese brand has announced that it will take the wraps off the Tekton, its rival to the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Tata Sierra. This midsize SUV, which shares its CMF-B platform with the Renault Duster and is likely to have the same powertrain options, has been teased repeatedly, giving us hints of its exterior and interior design. The Nissan Tekton’s outsides are inspired by the larger Patrol SUV while the cabin features a three-tone dashboard.
Nissan India has also confirmed that its 7-seat SUV will arrive in 2027and interestingly, while Nissan’s 7-seat SUV will be based on the same CMF-B platform as the Tekton it will be a very different product. Speaking to Autocar India at the sidelines of the Nissan Gravite’s name reveal, Nissan India MD, Saurabh Vatsa, said, “The 7-seater will be completely different – not just an extension of the Tekton.”
It should be noted that the Renault Duster and its 7-seat derivative, likely to be the Boreal or the Bigster, share the same CMF-B platform as Nissan’s SUVs. Like the Nissan SUVs, the Renault SUVs are also likely to be significantly differentiated in terms of design.
This means that unlike the Tata’s Harrier and Safari – the latter is nearly identical to the former but for a few design changes and an extended rear overhang to accommodate the third row of seats – the Tekton and its 7-seat derivative will be more differentiated. Nissan’s SUVs are likely to be more akin to Hyundai’s Creta and Alcazar, where the latter features a longer wheelbase, among other minor design and mechanical changes.
Along with expanding its product range, Nissan India also has plans to increase its footprint in the country. The Japanese brand currently has around 150 showrooms in the country and has plans to expand to 200 dealerships by the time the Tekton launches. And by the time prices for Nissan’s 7-seat are announced, Nissan says the number of dealerships will rise to 250. Further, the company plans to increase the current 800 sales and service personnel to 3,000 by the time the fourth model – the larger SUV that is the Renault Boreal/Bigster’s badge-engineered twin – arrives.
