Omoda and Jaecoo to launch five new cars in 2025, and open 59 more dealers – Carwow

Chinese newcomers Omoda and Jaecoo are set for a massive expansion in 2025, with five new models to come and a total of 130 dealers in the UK by the end of the year.
There are loads of new Chinese brands launching in the UK at the moment, but none are expanding quite as quickly as Omoda and Jaecoo. These two brands are owned by Chery Automotive, a big player in Asian markets looking to make a splash in Europe.
The Omoda 5 and E5 have been on sale for a few months now, and this year they’re being joined by the new Jaecoo 7, the Omoda 9, the Jaecoo 5, the Omoda 7 and the Omoda 3. It’s safe to say you’ll be spoiled for choice.
We’ve been talking about Omoda and Jaecoo as one entity, but they’re actually separate brands which will be sold out of the same dealerships.
Omoda is marketed as the more “sporty” of the two brands, with its main focus being on youthful coupe-SUVs. Jaecoo on the other hand makes rugged-looking boxy SUVs which are capable of tackling rougher terrain.
The two brands do share some mechanical bits between cars, such as the 1.6-litre petrol engines, but on the whole they are completely separate from each other.
Omoda and Jaecoo are sticking to traditional dealerships to sell their cars, and there are already 71 sites across the UK. They’re also aiming to expand to 130 locations before the end of 2025.
So why stick to old-school in-person dealers rather than move online like Volvo and Tesla? Well it’s actually quite clever when you’re a new brand looking to get your cars in front of customers. Imagine you’re heading into a multi-franchise dealer to look at a more well-known new model, but out of the corner of your eye you notice the new Jaecoo 7.
You’ve never heard of this brand, but you wander over and now you’re considering it over more mainstream models.
Omoda and Jaecoo are also putting a big focus on parts availability to make sure its cars are easy to insure. There have been reports from other Chinese brands of parts being so scarce that a minor front-end prang is enough to write off a car, making them almost impossible to insure.
To get around this, Omoda and Jaecoo have a huge parts warehouse in the midlands with spares being stocked up before the cars even hit UK shores. Victor Zhang, Country Director at Omoda Jaecoo, says that spare parts can be at a dealership within 24 hours, and if it’s out of stock they can get parts shipped from China in under 48 hours thanks to a deal with DHL.
The Omoda 5 and the electric E5 went on sale late last year in the UK, and the new Jaecoo 7 is available to order now.
In May you’ll see the new Omoda 9 hit the streets, a large flagship coupe SUV which will be available with either petrol or plug-in hybrid engines, the most powerful of which has 420hp. We had the chance to briefly poke around the 9 recently, and it’s a pretty luxurious place to spend time.
Even on this pre-production prototype all the materials are plush and everything feels really nice and solid. It’s spacious inside as well, and you get a lot of kit as standard. All cars will get heated and ventilated front and rear seats for example.
August will also bring the new Jaecoo 5, a smaller SUV which will sit below the 7 and will be offered with both petrol and electric power options. A new Omoda 7 will also be coming in September to take on the Toyota RAV4, and the new Omoda 3 is also slated for a reveal this year. This will be an entry-level model, but exact details are yet to be confirmed.
