The New Tata Punch 2026 is an upcoming SUV from Tata, which is essentially the facelift of their Tata Punch, which will be updated for design, features, as well as powertrain. We expect the prices to start around Rs 6 lakh and can go all the way up to Rs 12 lakh for the top variant, which is now expected to be offered with a turbo-petrol engine. It will continue to compete against the likes of the Hyundai Exter, Citroen C3, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Maruti Ignis and the Maruti Fronx and its sibling, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor.
One of the most popular cars in India, the Tata Punch, is finally getting its much-awaited facelift. The updated version of the micro SUV has been revealed and it sports a redesigned look, expected to get new features, a more premium cabin, and a new turbo-petrol engine. Tata has not revealed much about the updated Punch, but here is what we know from the teasers and spyshots.
Tata Punch Facelift
While Tata has not revealed the entire design of the new Punch, the teasers have given us a glimpse into the design and what it will look like. At the front, the Tata Punch facelift will feature a redesigned grille, which is slimmer than the older one. It also gets sleek LED DRLs, reworked bumpers, and vertically stacked LED headlamps. These design changes make the Punch facelift look like its electric twin, the Tata Punch EV.
Tata Punch Facelift headlight
The overall silhouette of the Punch facelift will remain the same as the outgoing version, but Tata has come up with a new design for the 16-inch alloy wheels, which looks similar to the wheel design of the Tata Safari. Furthermore, you’ll also see thick wheel arches and door cladding for a rugged SUV look.
Tata Punch Facelift wheels
At the back, the facelift will come with a connected LED tail lamp setup, which gets a smoked effect similar to the one we saw in the new Altroz. The Tata colour shown in the teaser is also a new shade of blue, and we expect Tata to offer more new shades with their SUV. You can check out what the teaser revealed in this article.
Tata Punch Facelift rear
Inside, the Punch facelift will come with a redesigned cabin. It will feature a much cleaner look, similar to other Tata models, and the design will look somewhat like the cabin of the Punch EV.
Tata Punch Facelift dashboard
We expect more soft-touch materials, better plastics and button quality, and loads of gloss black elements on the centre console and steering wheel. From the teasers, we know the Punch facelift will get a touch-based climate control panel, brushed aluminium inserts around the AC vents, and leatherette padding on the gear lever.
Tata Punch Facelift instrument cluster
In terms of space, we don’t expect any changes. It will remain a small SUV which is fit for four passengers. The front seats of the current Punch offer good space and support for tall passengers. However, the seat height feels a little short.
Tata Punch Facelift rear seat
The rear seat is spacious enough to accommodate two 6-footers with decent headroom, legroom, and underthigh support. However, due to the limited width, fitting three people in the back will make you feel cramped.
The teaser also revealed that it will get a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, and a 360-degree camera. Other features like automatic climate control, a single-pane sunroof, a wireless phone charger, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, and ventilated front seats are also expected to be part of the feature list.
In terms of safety, the Punch facelift will come with features like 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera.
Just like the outgoing version, the facelift is also expected to come with a 5-star crash test safety rating.
The current Punch has a boot space of 360 litres, which is enough to keep two suitcases (medium and small), and two soft bags. This space is enough for a weekend getaway and small trips.
Even the iCNG variants are offered with a dual cylinder setup, which liberates a usable boot space even for CNG users.
We expect the facelifted Punch to also get a similar boot space.
The facelifted Tata Punch will retain the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine of the outgoing model, which makes 88 PS and 115 Nm. This engine is paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMT (automated manual transmission). This petrol unit offers a refined and smooth drive experience, and it is best for relaxed driving.
Tata offers this engine with a factory-fitted CNG kit as well, which can be had with a manual transmission only. If you want the best running cos, and are willing to compromise a little on performance, you can go for the CNG variant of the Punch.
With the facelift, the Punch will also get a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, which we have seen in the Nexon and the Curvv. This engine makes 120 PS and 170 Nm, and the Nexon gets this engine with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT (dual clutch automatic transmission). We expect the Punch to get the same transmission options.
The turbo-petrol engine is best suited for those who value a fun-to-drive experience and like a little excitement in their daily drives. However, the downside is low fuel efficiency, which is expected with a turbo-petrol engine.
