Top 6 Upcoming EVs in 2026 – CarWale

While much of the attention around 2026 is on new SUVs and premium launches, there is a growing set of buyers preparing to make the shift from internal combustion engines to electric vehicles. If you are among them, the year ahead looks promising. From mass market EVs to new body styles and three-row offerings, 2026 will see several electric cars entering the Indian market. Here is a curated list of EVs confirmed or strongly expected to launch next year.
After waiting through most of 2025, Maruti Suzuki is finally expected to announce prices of its first electric vehicle in January 2026. The e Vitara will take on rivals such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG Windsor EV, and the Tata Curvv EV. It will be offered with 49kWh and 61kWh battery pack options across three variants, delivering a claimed range of up to 543km. This will be a crucial model for Maruti as it marks the brand’s entry into the mainstream EV space.
Following an overwhelming response to the ICE Sierra, Tata Motors is preparing to introduce the electric version in the coming months. The Sierra EV will retain the familiar silhouette and design cues while incorporating EV-specific touches such as a closed grille and dedicated badging. It will be underpinned by Tata’s acti.ev+ platform and, like the Harrier EV, is expected to be offered in both RWD and AWD configurations with multiple battery pack options.
Toyota’s first electric SUV for India will arrive in early 2026 as an electric derivative of the e Vitara. First showcased in concept form at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, the Urban Cruiser EV will share battery specifications and key hardware with its Maruti sibling. However, Toyota will differentiate it through unique exterior styling and a distinct cabin layout to maintain brand identity.
Kia plans to give the Syros a new lease of life by introducing its electric version. Test mules spotted internationally reveal that the Syros EV will retain the boxy silhouette of the ICE model, along with familiar lighting elements and wheel designs. Expected to launch in the first quarter of 2026, the Syros EV is likely to offer features such as cooled rear seats, panoramic sunroof, dual 12.3-inch screens, powered driver seat, and dual-tone upholstery. It will target the budget EV segment, rivalling models like the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400.
Vinfast’s third model for India will be the Limo Green, slated for launch in February 2026. Already on sale in global markets, the Limo Green is a 4.7-metre-long seven-seater electric MPV powered by a 60.1kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 450km. Once launched, it will serve as an alternative to electric MPVs such as the Kia Carens Clavis EV and the BYD eMax 7.
Tata Motors will also update the Punch EV in 2026, marking its first mid-life update. Expected in the first half of the year, the facelifted Punch EV will receive cosmetic updates, new colour options, and additional features, while continuing with the existing battery pack options.
These are the electric cars that are currently confirmed or strongly expected to launch in 2026. With the EV space evolving rapidly, more models are likely to be added to this list. Stay tuned, as we will continue updating this roundup with the latest developments as new information becomes available.
